I reckon it’s time to feature another Audie Murphy western and I’ve narrowed it down to two options. Seeing as it’s been a while since I offered readers a chance to cast a vote for what they’d like to see, I thought it was a good opportunity to run a poll. The choice is between Tumbleweed (1953) and Ride a Crooked Trail (1958). I’ll leave the poll open until midnight on Saturday and will go with the majority decision. Take your pick people.
Well, I voted for TRAIL but it looks like I’m on the losing side (again …) 🙂

I’m certain I’ve seen both of them because I watched a lot of Murphy’s when I was a kid…. but it was so long I can’t remember them!!! I want to participate, but I have to bow out. Sorry.
Of all Murphy’s Westerns which would you consider Classic? Just curious.

There’s a lot of good stuff in Murphy’s career. I’d say all his westerns are enjoyable on some level but I’m particularly fond of The Unforfiven, No Name on the Bullet, Seven Ways from Sundown, Walk the Proud Land, and I have to say Night Passage has risen considerably in my estimation in the last year or two.

My thoughts exactly. Don’t forget HELL BENT FOR LEATHER (1960), which I find to be his grittiest and best western. Reviewed here:

Well it’s gone midnight here so I’m calling time on this poll. Ride a Crooked Trail has come out the winner, just. I’ll have a piece up on it as soon as possible. My thanks to all who cast a vote.
